But one of the cult's victims has called on the Japanese government to abandon the looming execution of the group's leaders.

Observers say that some of the FLDS members who have been re-baptized into the faith as a sign of loyalty to jailed cult leader Warren Jeffs have vanished.

"Parents that have dropped off their girls for interviews, they go to pick them up and the girls have been sent off to a 'safe place of refuge' is what they're being told."
