The Children of Fire charity, the only one of its kind in Africa, has been taking in young burn survivors since 1997, and now coordinates treatments and surgeries for children from across the continent. Director Bronwen Jones, a UK citizen, now a permanent resident of South Africa, founded the charity and becomes co-legal guardian of the children with the families, in order to coordinate the treatments. The center also houses the children when they come to Johannesburg for further treatments and during extended recovery from surgeries.
