A jury in State College, PA awarded $16.5 million Thursday to a woman who said she was drugged with carbon dioxide and manipulated to believe she was raped by family members at the hands of a former psychologist.

During the trial Julian Metter maintained the woman did suffer abuse in her childhood, including torture tied to a satanic cult.

The BBC director general Mark Thompson has claimed that Christianity is treated with less sensitivity than other religions because it is "pretty broad shoulders".

He suggested other faiths had "very close identity with ethnic minorities" and as a result were covered in a more careful way by broadcasters.

In an unprecedented meeting, the head of the Greek Orthodox Church in Turkey last week expressed his concerns and hopes for the country's Christian minority to members of the Turkish Parliament.

The Feb. 20 meeting is a sign that progress is being made, but more progress is needed, said the patriarch, who as "archbishop of Constantinople" is "first among equals" in the Eastern Orthodox Communion.

A former Los Angeles church pastor, who owned and operated several fraudulent durable medical equipment supply companies with her husband, was sentenced today to serve 3 years in prison for her role in a $14.2 million Medicare fraud scheme.

Last January her husband was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Two suicide bombers from the Boko Haram Islamist sect drove a car laden with bombs into the worship service of a Church of Christ in Nigeria (COCIN) congregation, killing at least one Christian girl and injuring dozens of other church members, sources said.

A man claiming to be a spokesman for Boko Haram reportedly claimed responsibility for the blast.
