Mormons operating independently of the Mormon Church -- and in direct contradiction to the church's edicts on the subject -- have posthumously baptized Anne Frank in a Mormon ritual referred to as 'Baptism for the Dead.'

In response the LDS Church has issued its strongest response yet to the violation of its agreement not to do proxy baptisms for Holocaust victims who are not related to a church member.

A man excommunicated from the FLDS cult won a partial court victory in a lawsuit he filed against Warren Jeffs, the imprisoned leader of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Lawyers say the ruling could open the door to more lawsuits from those ousted by Jeffs.

The Church of Scientology in Australia has asked the Federal Government for an exemption to the Fair Work Act so they do not have to pay workers the minimum wage.

Last September the cult was found to be subject to Australian labour laws after an investigation into allegations it paid employees who were members of its clergy as little as $10 a week.
