Former pastor Royden Wood has been convicted by a jury of three of five counts of sexual assault for long-term and intrusive relationships with female congregants.

In 2008 he was also convicted on nine assault charges involving boys and three sexual assault charges involving two women in his now-defunct church.

A federal judge has denied defense requests to halt proceedings in a civil lawsuit filed by former wives of Tony Alamo.

The judge ruled that the law does not permit civil defendants to request a halt to proceedings in cases it speculates may be the subject of a criminal investigation.
