The Utah Supreme Court on Tuesday wrestled with the issue of who has the final say over state law as part of a long-running battle for control of a communal land trust tied to Warren Jeffs' polygamous church. The question comes on the heels of a February federal court ruling, which found that the state of Utah violated the religious rights of members of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints when it took over the church's land trust in 2005.

Police in China held "about two dozen" pastors and elders of Beijing's Shouwang Church under house arrest or at police stations over the weekend to keep them from attending a Sunday worship service in a public location.

Three top leaders of the church remain in jail and several others are under strict surveillance. Chinese police arrested at least 160 members of the 1,000-strong church as they tried to assemble.

Police in Durham, N.C., have arrested a suspected cult leader and the mother of a missing 6-year-old boy.

Warrants suggest Peter Moses and Vania Sisk are connected with the disappearance of Jadon Higganbothan and 28-year-old Antoinetta McKoy, who are both believed to be dead.
