Investigators say couple tied to religious cult may have sexually assaulted more women

Details of underground bunkers, end-of-world fears and terrified victims emerged today at a bond hearing for a self-proclaimed prophet charged with rape.

The man, Albert Tony Walker, 62, was described as the head of an isolated religious organization called The Church.

"He saw himself as the Third Testament," said Assistant District Attorney Penny Crowder, of the Mountain Judicial District in Rabun County. "There was God and Jesus, and then there is him."

Polygamous sect challenges seizure of land trust

A polygamous sect is asking the Utah Supreme Court to overturn a state court decision that stripped the religious purposes from its communal land trust.

In a court filing Tuesday, attorneys for the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints say making the United Effort Plan Trust secular was a violation of the faith's constitutionally protected religious rights.

Malaysia Muslim sect leader Abdul Kahar Ahmad gets 10-year sentence

A Malaysian Islamic court sentenced a Muslim sect leader to 10 years in prison and six lashes of a cane Wednesday for spreading false teachings and claiming to be God's prophet.

The man claimed he was appointed by God under the same circumstances as the Prophet Muhammad.
